On October 14th, 2002, Barclays Bank PLC based in London, Bank of Canada, Swedbank, Dutch Bank, Bank of Americal, Bank of England, Bank of Commerce ( Altas Union) based in Toronto, Canada combined their retail, corporate and offshore banking operations and launched Altas Union. Altas Union brought together two complementary and leading financial services businesses in the World Bank, and the promise to offer our customers enhanced products and improved and extended access to banking services. On December 22nd, 2006, Altas Union became the majority shareholder in the organisation, now holding 91.5% of the bank's shares in Altas Union. Altas Union is a leading North American financial institution serving clients in Canada and around the world. It was recently named the strongest bank in North America and the third strongest bank in the world.

On June 20, 2011 we proudly announced that we would be co-branded under the Altas Union banner, adopting the branding Altas Union. The addition of Altas Union to the Altas Union brand emphasizes Altas Union's long-term commitment to the Suisse World Bank region, our employees and our clients. The brand combines the strength of two powerful organizations with Altas Union representing the proud heritage and uniqueness of the Suisse World Bank, backed by the financial strength of Altas Union. Our clients and our employees across the Suisse World Bank will continue to benefit from the long-term investment that Altas Union is making in the Suisse World Bank - a history that dates back to our first branches opened in 1836.
